Season 1, Episode 8
Running a business while staying true to your values
with Samantha Couzens
Samantha, founder of Spoonful of Happy, is a self-described rule-abiding rebel. While she’s a rule follower in many ways, her unconventional approach to business and creating a purpose-driven career makes her a true modern day rebel.
Wanting autonomy over her work Samantha made small changes over time to transition from full-time employment to running her own business while honoring the way she believes business should be run.
Launching her own food styling and photography business she puts her values at the heart of everything she does and everyone she works with.
Samantha has overcome limiting beliefs in her business working on her mindset, as well as learning to embrace failure and being totally transparent with her audience about the things that go wrong.
You can follow Samantha @spoonfulofhappy_ on Instagram for food, photography and some Friday Fails. You can also find her and her work at www.spoonfulofhappy.co.uk
“ I knew that if I did business in the way that I think business should be done, I would make the money that I needed to live and I wanted to just love my job over making a lot of money.“
_Samantha Couzens
Learnings
- Build a career around your life, not your life around your career.
- Small changes you make over time can build up to a change in career direction.
- Embrace failure. Every “no” brings you closer to a “yes”.
